Who do you want to take your Photos?
by: Sarah Arnette
Wedding photography is very expensive. It is not uncommon for a couple to spend a couple thousand dollars on a photographer. If this seems like a lot of money for a couple pictures, well it should. There are some benefits to having a professional photographer, but at the same time, there are some benefits to not having one too. It all depends upon the wedding budget and the personality of the couple getting married.
Wedding photographers are able to create those romantic photographs that are ever so eloquent. They understand the complexities of light and shadow to create emotion within their pictures. They are able to create scenes that symbolize the bride moving from a young lady to a bride. They are able to capture the princess in each bride, setting her in the best possible light. This is great for those brides who want to be the fairy tale princess being taken by her prince charming. They do no less for the groom, giving him the opportunity to shine with his boys, displaying his romantic and playful manner.
The wedding photographer is also able to combine the pictures together into a professional video complete with music. This music and picture combination is a great way to share the beauty of the wedding with those who were not able to make it to the wedding or reception. However, these services are very far from inexpensive and often do not display the true personality of the couple who are involved in the wedding. They display the art that the photographer is able to create.
A common and cost effective means of obtaining photography and video of the wedding is to have the guests of the wedding take the pictures. Most guests will bring their own cameras to the wedding, although it can be a little tacky to just ask for copies of the pictures. Instead, consider putting disposable cameras on the tables and then provide a collection basket at the end of the reception for the photographs. This way you are responsible for the development costs, but you also know that you will get most of the photographs of the wedding.
The guest photographs will be different than the photographs that a professional would provide. When people pose for a professional, they often act differently than if they are posing for a friend. What you will find is that your photographs will be more candid and relaxed, showing people how they actually are. In addition, even though everyone will be watching the same ceremony and be at the same reception, you will be able to get a wider range of photographs. This is because everyone will see things from a slightly different angle and they will be focusing not only on the obvious people of importance, but also the family and friends that are important to them.
While there is no right or wrong way to obtain pictures for a wedding, this method does provide a new option for the brides and grooms to think about. This can help to cut down the costs of the photographs and help to increase the number of pictures taken. It can also be a lot of fun for people at the reception and the wedding. It is important to remember that even though the wedding is a solemn affair, the reception truly is a party and these cameras can help to show all aspects of that party.
